Although there has been significant progress in reducing the AIDS epidemic in Zimbabwe, the CDC estimates that in 2021, there were 550,000 orphans in Zimbabwe from the AIDS epidemic alone. The opportunity to touch countless lives with the life-changing message of the gospel is exponential.
90% of our financial support currently comes from the East Point Church of Christ in Wichita, Kansas. We wish to continue ministering to as many children as possible, which will only be possible if we expand our support to other individuals and congregations.
The program operates by paying for students school fees and a the salary of an orphan minister who oversees the program at a particular school or set of schools. The orphan minister’s responsibilities are to ensure the student is in a safe living environment, is doing well in school, and to share the gospel.
Currently, 70% of our budget goes to tuition and other schooling expenses. The remaining 30% go towards paying the salaries of the orphan ministers. Tuition costs are estimated at $80 per year for primary students and $160 per year for secondary students.
